Our Goal To enhance Kings Mutual’s profile in the Community as an example of Good Corporate Citizenship through focused programs in support of key value areas Our Focus Kings Mutual and its staff recognize the importance of making a contribution to the Province of Nova Scotia as being an integral part of our corporate responsibility.  Our contribution to the community is founded on five key areas: Local Health Loss Prevention Community Welfare Environment/Agriculture Youth Development Eligibility Kings Mutual prefers to make donations to organizations with formal charitable status Kings Mutual will only consider support of non-charitable organizations when the end-use of our funds is fully known Kings Mutual aims to ensure long lasting beneficial effects as a result of its contributions to the community rather than short-term one-time donations.  Kings Mutual prefers to consider the nomination of a small number of beneficiaries with whom a relationship can be built over time rather than multiple charities or causes. Kings Mutual believes in the value of supporting the community through “donating” the dedicated time of individual employees during business hours or outside, as well as giving access to the use of company equipment, where appropriate. The decision to support or donate to a charity should not serve exclusive personal interests. Non-Eligibility Kings Mutual does not typically fund the following type of requests as donations: Individual pursuits Debt reduction campaigns Political parties and candidates Religious organizations Service clubs Goodwill advertising Professional solicitors Advocacy or social interest groups Conferences or meetings Individual public, private or parochial schools Fundraising activities (i.e. charity runs) Ticket purchase for fundraising activities Application Deadlines Donation requests are reviewed as they are received.  Submissions will be provided to the Board of Directors for assessment and approval.  The final deadline for all requests is June 30th.  A company representative will contact successful applicants in the third quarter. Application Process for Donations Corporate Communications requests that non-profit organizations, which are seeking funding, provide Kings Mutual with the following information: 1. A written request, preferably on the organizations letterhead. 2. Background information on the organization to include, but not be limited to: A. Name of the organization, address, telephone number, fax, postal address B. Contact person, address, telephone and fax numbers, email address. C. History, mission, population currently served, key personnel, Board of Directors and Trustees. 3. Request a specific dollar amount of funds and provide the specific proposed use of those funds. 4. If the request is related to an event, provide the event name, date, time, location, table and individual ticket prices, sponsorship levels and costs, entertainment, program journal advertisement sizes and deadlines, confirmed sponsors, guest speakers, auction and purpose of the event. 5. If the request is for merchandise or in-kind donation, follow the instructions in #4. 6. Include any proposed donor recognition for the gift. 7. List of all corporate contributors. 8. Deadline for our response.
